Very nice rendition of the classic Snake game! I enjoyed this! Might want to incorporate some sound fx and maybe a musical score. :)
I would like to see a combination of this and Mik's "Predator Prey" program. Maybe with some genetic changes after a few million iterations. :)
I think it's a great start. I like the sidescroller kind of action and the lighting effect is really cool. Rather than calling it 2D Minecraft you might want to go for something on your own. I like that you're paying homage to Minecraft but I think you have the potential here to add non-Minecraft game components (maybe a whip the you can shoot across a little chasm to swing across or something). You can also taken it into a direction where if you go into some sort of "portal", you go to a puzzler/challenge where you have to make it through to get a piece of equipment. Anyway, great start and I'm looking forward to seeing you progress with this one.
I really like this. If I might offer suggestions, I think you may want to add a a sound effect when the ball hits the edge of the screen as well. It might also be interesting to move the paddle around with the mouse -- which would allow it to be more free. Finally, can you add an "easy" mode so I can actually score a point? LOL
Oooh... and every millionth incarnation, one of the animals has a genetic change/adaption which changes their color... or size... or appetite... or speed... or life span...
Also, it would be interesting to have the rabbits randomly around the screen (as rodents tend to do) and once a few cycles have gone through (so surviving rabbits will have found some sort of a balance with the growing lettuce) a "pack of foxes" could be introduced -- not randomly but as they would come in together. It might also be cool to have a random "rain storm" blow throw every so many cycles so the lettuce can survive (or not) which would also affect the rabbit population. (Sorry... I tend to overthink things)
I'm thinking there should be a food source for the rabbits -- lettuce, perhaps. Maybe the lettuce spreads (or occasionally grows randomly) and without it, the rabbits die of starvation. But I love things like this.
Another very interesting approach. :) I'm enjoying your work, Actinium. Plans on sharing more of your source code?
Beautiful job -- and that's coming from someone who lived through the original "Breakout" days. :) Any plans to release the source code?
