There are no prizes this is just for fun!
Alright, I'm in charge this month and boy do I have a challenge for you guys.
Since it's June, I'm expecting people to be ending up their school years (if you live in the US) and will be able to have even more time on their hands than before. Because of that, you may find these challenges harder than previous challenges, and/or longer to work on.
So the challenge difficulties this year are: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert, and Mental.
There will be winners in all categories, plus a best overall winner.
The results will be posted, at the latest, a few days into July.
Now the nasty requirements you must follow otherwise you'll be DQ'd (Rules):
- DO NOT directly copy someone else's scenario, make a few changes, and then post it.
- Like last month, YOU MAY ask for help on the discussion page.
- If you use demo code from other scenarios, YOU MUST both credit the user where you got the code, and make it unique.
- YOU MUST include source code.
- YOU MAY work in a group of people, as long as you credit the people who worked with you (either Greenfoot usernames or their real names, if they don't have a Greenfoot account)
- YOU MUST use the challenge ID for your scenario.
- YOU CAN enter into multiple challenges, but only one can win and you can't have multiple scenarios under the same challenge.
- YOU CANNOT ask people to vote for your scenario.
Breaking any of the above rules will result in an instant disqualification from this month's challenge and none of your scenarios will be allowed into the contest. That's pretty harsh, so DO NOT break the rules!
Here's the challenges and as I like to say,
"May the the Odds be ever in your favor" (jk, this isn't Hunger Games where your forced to go in. This is Hunger Games where you volunteer to go in)
Beginner

Write an endless game where the player must avoid randomly spawning objects. Have a score counter.
Want to add more? Here's some ideas:
- Have both obstacles and enemies to avoid
- Have obstacles come from different directions
Intermediate

Write a puzzle game with at least five levels, getting harder with each level. This can be anything from a platformer puzzle game (like Limbo). To a jigsaw puzzle. Have a timer and a rating system. High Scores are optional. The rating system is up to you to decide, whether it be time solved, or for grabbing different items (like coins).
Want to add more? Here's an idea:
- Have a secret room or puzzle (not originally part of the 5 required) that can only be accessed if a specific circumstance happens in a level. Add extra points or a cool easter egg if they solve the puzzle.
Expert

Make a remake of any arcade game. This could be anything from pong to pacman to one of those modern redemption games (the games that give you tickets). You do not have to recreate the whole game, especially if there is a lot of levels or a long story. It does need at least 7 levels and/or 4 increasing difficulties throughout the game (whether in AI or gameplay). Add at least 1 new feature to the game.
Want to add more? Here's some ideas:
- Combine two arcade games to create a whole new remake! (e.g. Galaga and Pacman, Donkey Kong and Mappy)
- For a shooter game (like Galaga, Space Invaders, etc.) add a new weapon beside the default weapon. Have two bullets firing at once, a grenade launcher, or something else!
MENTAL (Supposed to be yelled in a deep booming voice, that echos after it's said)

Create a Mario or Legend of Zelda styled rescue-the-damsel-in-distress-game. IT must have at least 3 kinds of enemies, at least 3 kinds of obtainable power-ups, items, or weapons. At least 5 levels or rooms, and at least one dungeon or castle of some sort. The dungeon must have at least 3 rooms (or be a large, all scrolling room), a unique item or power-up only obtainable in that dungeon, and at least one boss in the dungeon. There MUST be a princess or damsel-in-distress to save, an ending, a health system or life system of some sort, and a menu/title world.
Good Luck! And Have fun!
