I like the new version, but could you either make the speed of the ship faster, make the asteroids closer, or add a warp key? It take waaaay to long to reach them.
Also, enemy ships would really liven it up.
Perhaps also points, that give you upgrades to weaponry etc.?
You remember the part where i said this isn't a game yet? This engine is not representative of the way the game is going to be at all, but right now i am simply working on getting a fast, and functional engine, along with good control and features.
believe me, plans for enemies, alternate weapons, advanced scoring, and multiple objectives are well underway.
Oh! forgot to mention, you can press up to accelerate! :D for some reason that hasn't been in the instructions, even though it has been implemented for quite some time! :P

lol, this IS the old model. But since you couldn't turn around in the old version, i took off the backs to preserve polygons. I haven't changed it back yet, as modeling for this engine is extremely annoying
I love the new updates!
When this becomes a real game, the new 'Super-speed' bullet method could be an upgrade and could be achieved by holding mouse 1.
Also, you could add asteroid HP, relative to asteroid size.
Well, right now I'm using asteroids as targets, but I am already working on models for enemy ships, which will be able to fire back at you and avoid your shots

It's the same for me as well - the last update seems to have pushed it over the edge somehow (with the same settings as before it's still very slow, I'm not getting more than 5 fps either.)
Much better :)
Out of interest, how does the quality control work? I'm averaging about 45 fps but when I turn it on it still takes me down to the lowest quality setting.
Its a bit harsh right now. It keeps decreasing the quality until you get over 55 FPS, which is reasonable on a computer like mine, but not so much for others.
Hmm, I would've thought a number like 30 would've been more reasonable - that was always the benchmark figure I was taught in terms of beyond that you can't really notice a difference. Nice idea though!
About the FPS, when you press pause and then press run, the FPS measurement sudden dips down low, but it comes back afterwards. So if quality control is turned on, the quality goes down.
Oh blarg, I had turned the stars off when i was trying to find out why it was slowing down. They're back on now. And the trig will always be approximated, because its soooo much faster and not much different looking.
You can lock on, just press the right mouse button to activate it. I took it off because some people can aim better without and anticipate the enemies movements
I just got this error:
java.lang.NullPointerException

Wow...! The TIE Fighters are too fast to chase for me, I hope this will be the highest difficulty level : )
I found myself just wildly "sprinkling" the laser bullets around trying to hit the TIE Fighters, and I don't even sure whether they are hit or flee off-screen :P
hi i can explain about the space attack incident. somone hacked my account and i don't know who it is. that person probably stole this game and probably tried to get mr in trouble.
