I like the retro graphics. The new spacefish things keep appearing in awkward places though... maybe they should always come in from the sides, or fade in. And, it would be nice if it took a while after shooting them for them to reappear.
I think that it could be a good idea to have health--sometimes you are moving when you get killed and the shield deactivates immediately. Also, it is possible to shoot a jelly thingie and have it respawn on top of you. Maybe you could have a short delay between the jelly respawns, or make it so they cannot actually spawn too close to the player.

This is really shaping up, just a few things would be nice to change: Your image backgrounds are all black. In the first level it hardly matters, because the entire background is also, but later levels would look better if the images were PNGs with transparent bits. The other issue is that I can't get past level 3. I was holding down up when I died, so when I respawned I immediately lost my other 3 lives. I would make the levels easier somehow before adding any more past 3. ; )
Hmm well, apparently I can win, but it's still insanely hard. (I recommend not shooting the enemies, it's better to know where they are than to have them respawn randomly)
