If the bullets moved a touch bit slower and aliens moved a bit faster I think it would be great. Maybe having the aliens shooting crackers at you so you can have the Cheese and Cracker Invasion (Cheese and Cracker Wars?) who knows? The speed thing I would recommend for sure.

Make the jump high, then as time goes by decrease the height of the jump.
