Yes, davmac, that is exactly how I did it once I saw your suggestion. I had a subclass of the world call the factory method, and it worked great. You have the advantage of a different subclass for every world, with all the features of the superclass. Thanks for the suggestion.

It appears your 'theCounter' field in your world class was not assigned an Overallscore object.

Now it works - thanks @dan! My problem was, that I first implemented the act method not in the subclass of my world, but in the actor class.

After the left and right key checks for turning, you need to perform collision checking. Then again, after the up and down key checks for moving. However, hard-coding the values to turn and move by in no way allows you to know how to revert a turn or move or even if any way made (although, if a collision is found, most likely it was due to the turning or moving -- but still, you would not know if it was due to a left or right turn or a forward or backward movement). Set up local int variables for the direction of turning and for the direction of movement and adjust them dependent on the key
