Removing excess background

So every time my spacecraft gets hit by an asteroid, it gives some visual feedback by changing transparency. However there are times when my spacecraft isn't touching the asteroid visually but it still changes transparency meaning the image is bigger than it seems. I've seen other discussions where danpost suggests using his scenario that got rid of the excess background, but it seems it's outdated and no longer works, is there an updated version? Or is there any other way to remove the excess background?

That scenario uses javax.swing and java.awt content which will not run in javascript. However, if you download it, you can then run it in greenfoot or you can go to the scenario directory and run its executable jar file outside of greenfoot. I had placed the jar file inside the scenario folder to make it easily accessible to others.
