The health shouldn't go down unless the player itself is hit by a zombie.

Ah I see, they kill the zombies around them when you shoot - an explosion effect could make it more obvious what they're doing :-)

I agree with mjrb4's statement with the explosion. I assume you have 1.5.1 so use the balloon tutorial's explosion. Also, in some instances the gameplay did get choppy...
